As the founding Director of Arthive, Artist Run Initiative, Simone submitted an application to Renew Newcastle to run an artist run initiative consisting of a collective group, studio hub and artist-run gallery, for artists’, by artists’. This application was integrated into her Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) research at The University of Newcastle, focusing on arts administration and artist run initiatives (ARIs).
Arthive ARI operated from 2009 until 2012, this is a huge success for an unfunded, volunteer run project. Much of this success is due to the initial planning, branding, sponsorship, fundraising, marketing and program development, which was all part of her research paper.
