CALL FOR ARTIST
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Newcastle’s Mattara Festival is a celebration of the city’s people and lifestyle. Established in the spring of 1961, the Festival has been a diverse mix of variety entertainment and an opportunity for local artists to express themselves.
For the golden anniversary of this event Newcastle Council called for a creative tender to build unique and potentially iconic elements to add to the festival. Cre8ing Growth was successful in winning the tender, with one of the elements being Newcastle buildings draped in artwork, creating Newcastle’s Outdoor Art Gallery.
Cre8ing Growth working in partnership with Art Space & Simone is now calling for Expressions of Interest from individual artists or artists’ collectives, for inclusion in the Newcastle Outdoor Art Gallery.
Artworks that embody the lifestyle, spirit and community of Newcastle will be a perfect fit with the original theme and concept of the Mattara Festival.
This is an exciting chance for artist to showcase their work to a large number of people within the arts (and wider) community. As this element of the festival grows over the coming years, the festival builds its capacity to attract visitors and interested groups from far outside our local Government area.
All Artwork will be scaled to occupy designated art space per building each buildings art space is highlighted by a gray box, and
